A statistician and demographer by training, Prof Mercer is now Professor of Sexual Health Science having worked in epidemiology and public health, specifically in the context of sexual health, since 2000. Prof Mercer’s research programme focuses on delivering robust evidence, for the population as a whole but also underserved groups, that informs health policy and practice to maximise individual and public health gain.
