Development and application of novel biomarkers for HBV
Whilst novel therapeutic approaches have the potential to cure HBV, new biomarkers are needed to support monitoring and inform management of those receiving these drugs. We developed novel tools for the characterisation and monitoring of people with HBV, including tools to undertake sensitive WGS analysis of HBV, and tools based on the detection and quantification of plasma HBV RNA, HBV core related antigen, and HBeAg to better understand the utility of these novel biomarkers.
Our findings will enable evaluation of the clinical application of these markers, the stratification of risk of poor clinical outcomes and the prediction of treatment response, within a diverse population of people with HBV.
