Assessing COVID coverage and the impact of COVID vaccination among people with hepatitis

Theme B

People with chronic viral hepatitis may have a different immune response to COVID-19 vaccination, possibly due to a dysregulated innate and adaptive immune response. Ongoing studies of COVID-19 vaccine antibody responses do not consider outcomes of COVID-19 infection. Through linkage of existing UKHSA surveillance datasets/biological samples, we explored antibody response to COVID-19 vaccination among PWID and pregnant women with HBV and/or HCV, and described COVID-19 vaccination uptake, relative SARS-CoV-2 infection rate and COVID-19 outcomes in those with viral hepatitis who are vaccinated/non-vaccinated.

Findings will inform discussions about ongoing vaccine prioritisation for future booster doses.
