Epidemiology and management of HBV infection in the UK
The natural history of HBV infection is complex and few studies have determined the patterns of disease progression and markers of disease outcomes in the UK. In 2007 we recruited 1520 patients from 12 UK liver centres and collected blood samples from around half of these, permitting an analysis of the spectrum of disease, patterns of management and virological factors. We will use data held by NHS Digital, and limited sampling, to determine the evolution of disease over the intervening 15 years in this cohort. We will investigate associations between host and virological factors with clinical events.
