Dr Eilish Hart

Eilish is a Senior Scientist based in the Blood Safety, Hepatitis, STI & HIV division at UKHSA. She is working within the NIHR HPRU BBSTI on projects which include research on HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and potential drug resistance, and stigma among individuals with lived experience of hepatitis C.

Prior to working within the NIHR HPRU BBSTI, she completed an integrated Masters degree in Biochemistry before working as a laboratory scientist in a forensics laboratory and as a laboratory technician in the Virology and Pathogenesis department at Public Health England (now UKHSA). She went on to complete her PhD in Infectious Diseases with the NIHR HPRU in Emerging and Zoonotic Infections, which combined laboratory and epidemiological approaches to investigate exposure to tick-borne diseases in both the general population in England and in higher-risk groups. This work sparked her interest in epidemiology and public health research.
