Manuela Parnoffi is a Senior Scientist in the Blood Safety, Hepatitis, STI & HIV Division at the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), where she leads on the implementation of research projects within the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Blood Borne and Sexually Transmitted Infections at UCL. She joined UKHSA in November 2025 and brings a multidisciplinary background spanning veterinary medicine, epidemiology, and global health.
Manuela recently completed a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, where her research explored the associations between ethnicity, in-hospital complications, and COVID-19 outcomes in an international cohort. Her work highlighted how minoritised ethnic groups can be disproportionately affected during pandemics and face persistent barriers to accessing healthcare.
Her current work focuses on improving the prevention, diagnosis, and management of blood-borne and sexually transmitted infections. Manuela is passionate about translating research and surveillance data into actionable insights to reduce health inequalities and improve population health outcomes.
