Identifying effective strategies for delivering treatment to people known to have HCV infection

Theme C

In 2019 Public Health England provided each Operational Delivery Network (ODN) data dashboards of testing, diagnosis and treatment with the aim of supporting local prioritisation of resources for HCV elimination efforts. We used Dashboard data to guide qualitative research to determine the most effective strategies for maintaining people diagnosed with HCV in the cascade of care to deliver curative treatment, harnessing metrics of treatment success from the Dashboard to guide qualitative research in selected ODNs into the acceptability of, and enablers and barriers to the service provision by the ODN.  We will also evaluate the effectiveness of a web-based system launched in London prisons in 2020, providing those detained in prison with data concerning their blood-borne viruses (BBV) infections and links to care providers. We will identify strategies to change the behaviours of service users and ODNs/GPs improving HCV diagnosis and linkage to care, contributing to the UK’s HCV elimination efforts.
