Hepatitis B in England Report
The latest Hepatitis B report for England was recently published and includes data up to 2022.
The UKHSA recently published the latest Hepatitis B in England report which includes data up to 2022. The report shows continued success of the antenatal screening and selective birth dose vaccination, both of which have achieved over 99% coverage.
However, challenges remain in diagnosing adults living with chronic hepatitis B. There are an estimated 269,000 people living with chronic hepatitis B in England, most (>95%) of whom are people who were born in a country where hepatitis B is endemic and acquired their infection in infancy. Those most at risk are encouraged to access free testing or a hepatitis B vaccination.
To support stakeholders with their communications on hepatitis, UKHSA has produced a new communications toolkit. The toolkit covers both hepatitis B and C and aims to support stakeholders to promote awareness of hepatitis and related information, including who is most at risk, prevention measures and available treatment. A series of new social media assets are included as part of the updated toolkit which stakeholders can download and use on their own channels.
