Theme A: Understanding risk and risk reduction for STIs and BBVs
University College London
Katy Town BSc (hons) MSc has worked in public health for seven years, primarily as a Senior HIV/STI Surveillance and Prevention Scientist at Public Health England. Here Katy worked within the National Chlamydia Screening Programme to design, develop, implement and evaluate a large national pilot across England to increase sexual health service provision within primary care. Katy also provides epidemiological support for the Gonococcal Resistance to Antimicrobials Surveillance Programme.
Katy’s PhD research focuses on the use of whole genome sequencing of Neisseria gonorrhoeae with epidemiological data to enrich our understanding of the transmission of gonorrhoea and antimicrobial resistance through sexual networks and assess how combining this data might inform the targeting and delivery of interventions.
