PhD Student

Theme A: Understanding risk and risk reduction for STIs and BBVs

University College London

Holly is a PhD Student in the Research Department of Infection and Population Health at University College London.

Her research interests include understanding the risk practices and contextual factors associated with STIs and HIV among men who have sex with men (MSM) and risk reduction strategies.  Holly is also interested in how the linkage of molecular data to epidemiological and clinical data can enhance our understanding of transmission patterns and antimicrobial resistance to inform the delivery of appropriate interventions.

Holly’s PhD research aims to better understand the epidemiology and transmission of sexually acquired gastrointestinal infections among MSM attending sexual health clinics, with a particular focus on Shigella spp. infection, so that improved public health and clinical control measures can be developed. Her research has close links with the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Gastrointestinal Infections.
